SF announces guidelines for fans at Oracle

The Giants on Thursday released new health and safety guidelines for fans who are planning to attend games at Oracle Park this year.

Under the public health order issued by San Francisco’s Acting Health Officer, Dr. Susan Philip, the Giants have received approval to operate the ballpark at up to 22 percent capacity, which means approximately 9,000 fans will be permitted to attend each of the club’s home games.

“We are very excited and are looking forward to welcoming fans back home to Oracle Park,” Giants president and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement. “We want to thank our fans for their ongoing patience, cooperation and support as we navigate the challenges of the pandemic.”

In order to gain entry, all fans 12 years or older will be required to take a COVID-19 test with negative results or provide proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination.

If testing, the Giants strongly encourage fans to take a PCR-type test rather than a rapid antigen test. Test results must be received within 72 hours of the first game fans plan to attend during a homestand at Oracle Park.

Fans can present an electronic or paper copy of their negative COVID-19 test results at the entrance gates or provide proof of full vaccination, which is defined as the completion of the two-dose regimen of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Vaccinated fans will also need to be at least two weeks removed from their final dose to meet the entry requirements.

Fans will be seated in socially distanced pods in nine designated zones throughout the ballpark, and all food and beverage items will be ordered via mobile app only. Spectators will be able to pick up orders at designated concession stands within their seating zone. Face masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced throughout the ballpark.

“Your cooperation helps keep not only everyone attending and working at the game safe, but also protects our entire community,” Philip said in a statement. “COVID-19 is still here, including new variants that spread more quickly, and unvaccinated individuals are still at serious risk, so we need to keep up the good work and follow the health guidelines so we can safely enjoy a full season of baseball. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.”

The Giants will sell tickets for home games on a monthly basis for the time being. Season-ticket members have first priority to secure tickets to April games. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to VISA cardholders on Friday and then the general public on Monday.
