Game recognize game ... even when there’s humor involved.
Two of baseball’s greatest stars demonstrated that during the Yankees’ 3-1 victory to complete a sweep of the Giants in San Francisco on Saturday.
Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Rafael Devers of the Giants had a fun exchange after Devers lined a ball over Judge’s head in right field in the sixth inning. Devers hustled into second base just ahead of Judge’s strong throw, and then turned toward Judge and appeared to say, “Good job, Papi.”
Judge reciprocated with some humor, making a sprinting motion with his arms as if to say, “You need to be faster, that play was closer than it should’ve been!”
Respect between two of the game’s best and former rivals in the American League East going back to Devers' days with the Red Sox -- always something fun to see on the baseball field.
