Metro Parks Elementary Sports Program

The Metro Parks Elementary Sports Program offers after-school sports at all Tacoma elementary schools. The Mariners provide team-branded jerseys and caps for all 2,400 participants in the T-Ball, Coach Pitch, baseball and softball activities.
Since 2018, the Mariners have contributed financial support to the Jack C. Wilson Active Kids Fund, which offers scholarships for registration fees so that all Tacoma children have access to recreation programs. The program is administered by in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound and YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
The Mariners also support the Metro Parks Elementary Sports Program by hosting Opening Day Jamborees for all participants as well an On BASE Youth Skills Clinic in 2019. Participants in the On BASE Tacoma Youth Clinic received Mariners caps and t-shirts and almost two hours of training in batting, pitching, fielding, and base running. Following the clinic, all participants enjoyed lunch provided by Jimmy John's.
In addition to Metro Parks Tacoma, program partners are Tacoma Public Schools, YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties and Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound.
