Jacob deGrom, Rangers

An MRI on deGrom's right knee came back clean on April 7 after he experienced discomfort while warming up for his April 6 outing.

Cole Ragans, Royals

Ragans exited his start on April 8 soon after taking a 92.4 mph line drive off his throwing hand in the first inning. Ragans suffered a left thumb contusion on the play, avoiding any fractures. He and the Royals are confident he’ll be OK moving forward.

Brice Turang, Jackson Chourio, Quinn Priester and Andrew Vaughn, Brewers

Turang sat out a second consecutive game on April 8 in an effort to calm the left ankle tendinitis that has slowed him for the past week or so, but said he expects to be back in the starting lineup for the series opener against the Nationals on April 10.

Chourio (fractured left hand) is scheduled for follow-up imaging on April 9.

Priester (right neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome) experienced discomfort while facing live hitters for the first time since his injury, per an April 7 update. He is scheduled to throw another live batting practice session on April 9.

Vaughn (fractured left hamate) is scheduled for a follow-up exam with the surgeon on April 9.

Jake Meyers, Cristian Javier, Hunter Brown and Josh Hader, Astros

Meyers left the Astros' April 8 game mid-plate appearance in the top of the second inning with lower back tightness. Minutes later, prior to the bottom of the second, Javier left the game with right shoulder tightness.

Brown was placed on the 15-day IL on April 5 (retroactive to April 2) with a right shoulder strain. The Astros announced on April 7 that Brown had suffered a Grade 2 strain and would be shut down from throwing for a few weeks.

Hader (left biceps tendinitis) is throwing bullpen sessions and could begin facing hitters during the week of April 13.

Zach Eflin and Jordan Westburg, Orioles

Eflin underwent Tommy John (UCL reconstruction) surgery on his right elbow on April 8, ending his 2026 season.

Westburg (partial right UCL tear) resumed swinging a bat on April 1 and was scheduled to begin a throwing progression during the week of April 6.

J.T. Realmuto and Zack Wheeler, Phillies

Realmuto left the Phillies' April 7 game against the Giants with a right foot contusion. X-rays were negative. He was not in the lineup April 8.

Wheeler made his third rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on April 8, allowing three hits, one run and one walk while throwing 61 pitches and striking out six batters. He will make at least one more rehab start.

Cody Ponce, Addison Barger, Max Scherzer, Alejandro Kirk, Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber and José Berríos, Blue Jays

Ponce (right ACL sprain) will undergo surgery on April 15 and is likely to miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

Barger was placed on the 10-day IL on April 7 with a left ankle sprain.

Scherzer left his April 6 start against the Dodgers after two innings due to right forearm tendinitis. He expects to make his next start as scheduled.

Kirk underwent surgery on April 7 to repair a broken bone in his left thumb.

Yesavage (right shoulder impingement) will make his next rehab appearance with Single-A Dunedin on April 9. He is expected to throw four innings or roughly 60 pitches.

Bieber (right elbow inflammation) and Berríos (right elbow stress fracture) were both scheduled to throw again on April 7.

Robert Stephenson, Grayson Rodriguez, Kirby Yates and Ryan Johnson, Angels

Stephenson underwent ligament and flexor tendon repair surgery and will miss the 2026 season.

Rodriguez (right shoulder inflammation) is playing catch and doing strengthening exercises without issue. He said on April 7 that he expected to throw his first bullpen within about a week.

Yates (left knee inflammation) faced hitters for the first time on April 7 and was set to be evaluated on April 8 before possibly beginning a rehab assignment.

Johnson, who was scratched from his scheduled April 5 start due to illness, was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 6. He expects to return as soon as he is eligible on April 18.

Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki, Cade Horton and Matthew Boyd, Cubs

Happ (bruised left heel) was out of the starting lineup April 7-8 but was available off the bench and should be back in the lineup April 10.

Suzuki (minor PCL sprain in right knee) played with Double-A Knoxville on April 3-5 and did so again on April 7-8. Barring anything unexpected, Suzuki will rejoin the Cubs for the April 10-12 home series against Pittsburgh.

Horton (right forearm discomfort) will require season-ending right elbow surgery, per manager Craig Counsell. The Cubs have not specified the procedure.

The Cubs placed Boyd on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 3) with a left biceps strain.

Kyle Stowers, Marlins

Stowers (Grade 1 right hamstring strain) took part in first-base drills and shagged fly balls prior to the Marlins' April 7 and April 8 games. He is trending toward a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville over the weekend of April 11-12.

Ryan Pepiot, Edwin Uceta, Gavin Lux and Garrett Cleavinger, Rays

Pepiot (right hip inflammation) threw a bullpen session April 7. He will progress to facing hitters in two innings of live batting practice, then will likely go on a rehab assignment.

Uceta (right shoulder impingement) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Montgomery on April 7 and threw a scoreless inning with one strikeout. He is scheduled to pitch again on April 10 and April 12, then should transfer his rehab to Triple-A Durham.

Lux (right shoulder impingement) played April 5 as the DH for Triple-A Durham and was scheduled to play second base April 8-9. After that, the Rays will determine his next step.

Cleavinger (right calf tightness) has resumed playing catch and is doing well. “I'd like to be optimistic right now that he'll be back shorter than later,” manager Kevin Cash said.

Juan Soto, Mets

Soto was placed on the 10-day IL on April 6 with a right calf strain. He's expected to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks.

Spencer Strider and Sean Murphy, Braves

Strider (left oblique strain) threw a bullpen session on April 7. His next step would be a live batting practice session.

Murphy (right hip labral tear) will begin a rehab assignment with Gwinnett on April 10.

Victor Robles, Mariners

The Mariners placed Robles on the 10-day injured list with a right pec strain on April 8.

Justin Slaten, Triston Casas, Patrick Sandoval and Kutter Crawford, Red Sox

Slaten was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 8 with a right oblique strain.

Casas (ruptured left patellar tendon/sore ribs) attempted to resume swinging but was still experiencing discomfort in his ribs, per an April 7 update.

Sandoval (left UCL repair) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on April 8.

Crawford (right wrist subsheath tear) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on April 11.

Gabriel Arias and Hunter Gaddis, Guardians

Arias was placed on the 10-day IL on April 7 with a strained left hamstring. He's expected to miss 4-8 weeks.

Gaddis (right forearm strain) was scheduled for his fourth rehab appearance with Triple-A Columbus on April 7.

Justin Verlander, Tigers

Verlander (left hip inflammation) threw a successful bullpen session on April 6.

Ryan Pepiot, Edwin Uceta and Gavin Lux, Rays

Pepiot (right hip inflammation) threw another bullpen on April 7 and will now progress to live batting practice.

Uceta (right shoulder impingement) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Montgomery on April 7.

Lux (right shoulder impingement) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on April 2 and will remain with the team at least through the beginning of their April 7-12 series.
