Injury: Loose bodies, bone spur in left elbow
Expected return: April/May
Status: Tossed 30 pitches in live batting practice on March 14 after a 20-pitch session on March 9 -- his first time facing live hitters since October elbow surgery. Rodón could appear in at least one Grapefruit League game. (updated March 14) More >>
SS Anthony Volpe
Injury: Left shoulder labrum tear
Expected return: No earlier than May
Status: Is hitting overhand tosses and could advance to live at-bats on or around April 1. Volpe is participating in all defensive and baserunning drills and began diving on his left shoulder in early March. Underwent arthroscopic surgery Oct. 12. (updated March 10) More >>
RHP Gerrit Cole
Injury: Right elbow ligament tear
Expected return: May/June
Status: Was facing hitters and throwing breaking balls as of March 6, when he threw two innings of live batting practice. Fastball has touched 97.5 mph. Could participate in Grapefruit League games this spring but will not be ready for Opening Day. (updated March 6) More >>
RHP Clarke Schmidt
Injury: Tommy John surgery
IL date: Feb. 12 (60-day IL)
Expected return: Second half of 2026
Status: Tossing at distances of up to 90 feet on flat ground as of Feb. 27. Tentatively scheduled to begin throwing bullpens in late March. Could face hitters in April or May. (updated Feb. 27)
RHP Chase Hampton
Injury: Tommy John surgery
Expected return: 2026
Status: Recovering from February 2025 procedure. Has thrown eight bullpens as of mid-February. Said Feb. 14 he is not sure when game action will begin. "I'm taking it slow right now." (updated Feb. 16)
