2022 Phillies Salute to Service

On Thursday, May 12, Toyota and the Phillies surprised Navy veteran and Haverford resident Matt Connolly at his 11-year-old son’s Little League game where he was personally invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Phillies Salute to Service Night presented by Toyota being held on Armed Forces Day at the May 21 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park. In front of cheering Brookline Baseball players and families, Phillies Ambassador Scott Palmer, Toyota representative Ryan Pesin and Team Foster founder and director Nick Liermann presented Phillies jerseys to Connolly, his wife, Jennifer, and children, Owen and Anna. Connolly, who served in the United States Navy as an electronic warfare technician rising to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, was nominated for the ceremonial first pitch honor by Team Foster for his tireless efforts to help his fellow veterans, living the motto, ‘No Hero Left Behind.’ Team Foster fights for the unmet needs of injured and disabled veterans by bringing together civilians, veterans and highly trained service dogs.
