Phillies Phundamentals Summer Camp

While the team’s out of town, the Phillie Phanatic and 2008 World Champion Hitting Coach and 1993 National League Champion Milt Thompson will join members from the team’s Baseball Analytics department and front office to help kick-off the Phillies Phundamental Summer Camp program at Simons Recreation Center in Philadelphia.

The Phillies analytics and front office team will lead approximately 75 elementary students in this interactive educational summer camp session, which uses baseball-related STEM programming to teach and reinforce academic skills.

The children will be divided into five stations, where they will learn about topics such as strike zone, fielding percentage, launch angle, base running and player positions.

As a surprise to the campers, the Phillie Phanatic and Chick-fil-A cow will participate in the camp with them, before distributing free Chick-fil-A lunches to all the children at the event.

Phillies Phundamentals, sponsored by Chick-fil-A Philadelphia and held in partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, is a summer camp program for children 6-12 years old that uses baseball to teach and reinforce academic skills.
