A veteran of the television industry, Brian Monihan was named President of NBC Sports Philadelphia in July 2012. Monihan joined the network in March 2009 as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Brian also oversees NBC Sports Philadelphia+.
During Brianās tenure at the NBC Sports Philadelphia ratings and streaming records have been set for several Philadelphia sports teams, and in 2019 the network debuted the first of its kind sports betting simulcast of a NBA game broadcast.
NBC Sports Philadelphia has been awarded 90 Emmy Awards, and won a national Edward R. Murrow Award for the documentary āRemembering Richie,ā an inspiring story on a Philadelphia-area native. The network was awarded its first regional āStation Excellenceā Emmy in 2014, becoming the first NBC sports regional network to ever win such an award, and only the second time a regional sports network has received this prestigious honor.
Monihan is active in the community, having won the 2011 Face Off for a Cure MVP from Autism Speaks and the NHL. He also serves on the Board of the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia, the Philly Ad Club, Special Olympics Philadelphia, and the Advisory Committee for the Shining Star Awards benefitting the March of Dimes.
Monihan has been recognized by CableFax Magazine as one of the top 100 Regional Leaders in Cable.
Born in Bryn Mawr and raised in Philadelphia, Brian graduated with degrees in Communications and History from Boston College. He lives in Moorestown, NJ with his wife and children.
