Yerry Paulino De Los Santos (name pronounced “Yairy”)... Lists Yordano Ventura as his favorite baseball player... He is one of three players on the current roster to have gone through the Pirates’ Dominican Academy, joining RHP Luis Ortiz and INF Rodolfo Castro. Pitched a perfect ninth inning to complete a combined no-hitter for Triple-A Indianapolis on April 13, 2022... Is a big fan of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors... Enjoys playing dominoes and spending time with his  family and friends.

2022

Made his Major League debut on 5/25 vs. Colorado and tossed a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 10-5 win...Began season with Indianapolis...Pitched 2.0 scoreless innings and picked up a save in his first appearance on 4/7 vs. Omaha (game one)...Tossed 1.0 inning in a combined no-hitter on 4/13 at St. Paul...Posted an 0.66 WHIP, .167 batting average against (6-for-36) and 1.69 ERA (10.2ip/2er) in his first nine appearances through 5/11...Was selected to the Major League roster on 5/23...Allowed just one hit to 21 batters faced from 6/3-21...Recorded at least one strikeout in each of his first nine games, the third-longest streak by a Pirates reliever to begin a career since data began being tracked in 1901, trailing Diomedes Olivo’s 13-game streak from 1960-62 and Cecilio Guante’s 12-game streak from 1982-83...Pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his first Major League save in an 8-7 win on 6/29 at Washington...Recorded a four-out save with all the outs coming by way of strikeouts on 7/11 at Miami (since saves became an official statistic in 1969, the only other Pirates to record such a save were Goose Gossage on 6/22/77 at San Diego, and Jason Christiansen on 7/25/98 vs. Atlanta)...Was placed on the 60-day injured list on 8/12 with a strained right lat muscle.

2021

Went 3-2 with two saves and a 1.52 ERA (23.2ip/4er) in 16 combined relief appearances between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis... Recorded all five decisions and both saves over his first eight appearances thru 5/29...Suffered the loss in his first outing on 5/4 vs. Bowie... Won three straight decisions from 5/7- 23... Struck out five batters in 2.0 scoreless innings of work while earning his first save on 5/20 at Harrisburg... Picked up his second save on 5/26 vs. Erie... Suffered second loss on 5/29 vs. Erie...Was placed on the injured list on 5/31 (retro to 5/29) with a forearm injury... Was transferred to 60-day I.L. on 6/17... Returned to action on 9/9... Was promoted to Indy on 9/20...Pitched 2.0 scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut on 9/23 at Omaha...Finished season making four straight scoreless appearances with Indianapolis.

2020

Did not pitch during the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019

Finished tied for third in the South Atlantic League in saves (13) while spending the entire 2019 season with Single-A Greensboro...Ranked second among all Pirates minor leaguers in saves in 2019...Recorded first professional save on 5/15/19...Did not allow a run in 32 of his 37 appearances in 2019...Was named an MiLB organizational All-Star in 2019.
