Cardinals place LHP Tyler Lyons on 10-day D.L.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's series opener in Cincinnati that they have placed left-handed reliever Tyler Lyons (left elbow sprain) on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, and recalled right-handed pitcher Mike Mayers from Memphis (AAA).

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's series opener in Cincinnati that they have placed left-handed reliever Tyler Lyons (left elbow sprain) on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, and recalled right-handed pitcher Mike Mayers from Memphis (AAA).
Lyons, who was on the disabled list May 11 to May 25 with a back strain, is 1-0 with a 5.93 ERA in 22 appearances (13.2 IP) this season. The 30-year-old lefty leads the team with his 9 Holds.
Mayers, who is being recalled for a sixth time this season, was most recently optioned to Memphis on June 5 and he converted his 3rd save of the season for the triple-A Redbirds the next day (June 6).
Mayers, 26, is 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA in 12 appearances (15.2 IP) for the Cardinals this season. He posted a 3.0- inning save on April 12 at Cincinnati, the first save of his Major League career.
