LOS ANGELES -- had his moment.

The Dodgers' backup catcher, pressed into starting duty with Will Smith on the injured list, came up big with his first career walk-off hit as L.A. beat Baltimore, 6-5, in Friday night's series opener at Dodger Stadium.

Rushing had been visibly frustrated earlier in the game when he struck out three times, including with the bases loaded in the third inning. But with the tying and go-ahead runs on base and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Rushing came through.

Facing Orioles closer Ryan Helsley, Rushing hit a line-drive single to right field to bring one runner home. A wild throw from right fielder Tyler O'Neill allowed the winning run to come home, cuing up "I Love L.A." for the Dodger Stadium faithful.
