The Cardinals are calling up top outfield prospect Joshua Báez, who will make his MLB debut Saturday against the Cubs, manager Oli Marmol said postgame Friday afternoon following St. Louis' 3-0 loss at Wrigley Field.
Báez, the club's No. 3 prospect and No. 59 overall per MLB Pipeline, has had a monster season in Triple-A Memphis, slugging 34 homers, notching 90 RBIs and compiling a .901 OPS in 103 games. His 34 homers are the most of any player in Triple-A and are tied for the second most in the Minor Leagues this season.

The promotion comes as the 23-year-old has hit safely in 11 of 12 games to begin August. Selected by St. Louis in the second round (No. 54 overall) of the 2021 Draft, Báez has hit .251 with 78 homers and an .819 OPS in 452 games during his Minor League career.
