May 13: OF receives a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection
Despite initially being close to a return to the D-backs, Thomas has been shut down following his latest treatment after experiencing swelling in his left hamstring stemming from his latest rehab game on May 5. While the team believes that Thomas can build back up from this point, he is “not close” to returning per manager Torey Lovullo and will require a new set of rehab outings prior to rejoining the big league roster.

10-day/15-day injured list

OF (strained left hamstring)
Expected return: TBD
Thomas had been scheduled to come off the IL on May 7, but per manager Torey Lovullo, Thomas felt something in his injured left hamstring after playing in a rehab game for Triple-A Reno on May 5. He received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection to alleviate swelling on May 13, and while further treatments are not believed to be necessary, he will play in Minor Leagues before rejoining the Major League roster. Thomas injured his left hamstring when he grounded into a double play in the first inning on March 31 against the Rockies. He stayed in the game but was replaced defensively in the fourth inning, and underwent an MRI on April 1 that showed a strain in the hamstring that was greater than a Grade 1, but not quite a Grade 2. His initial throwing program was paused after he experienced some discomfort in the left lat following an April 9 bullpen session. On April 17, he was moved to the 60-day IL. The southpaw was removed on March 19 against the Cubs in a Cactus League game with left lat tightness after completing his warmup tosses for the second inning.
