Pitched on the Cape for Chatham in 2016...He also pitched for the Mystic of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2015 and 2016...Tigers' scouts signed him while he was playing for the Mystic...Started throwing his sinker during Spring Training of 2020 when the Tigers brought in someone from Driveline to consult with some of their Minor League pitchers on pitch design. They told him his four-seam fastball, while he threw it hard, was extremely average from a metrics standpoint. They encouraged him to throw more two-seamers (sinkers) to have more arm-side run and depth...“It pretty much entirely changed the landscape of my career. Up until that point I threw exclusively four-seams and I would get away with it at the lower levels in the Minor Leagues because it was hard,” Foley told reporters in 2023...Is very into coffee and enjoys finding new coffee shops in the cities he travels to on the road...With the Tigers, he was part of a group of guys who’d go search for new coffee shops. His go-to coffee order is an iced honey latte.

2025

Missed most of the 2025 season while recovering from right shoulder surgery to repair his anterior capsule, performed by Dr. Keith Meister in May...Optioned to Triple-A Toledo out of Spring Training with Detroit...Appeared in five games for the Mud Hens, striking out nine in 6.2 scoreless innings...Landed on the injured list at Toledo in late April and had his shoulder surgery in May.

2024

Went 3-6 with a 3.15 ERA (21ER/60.0IP) in 69 games, marking his third consecutive season of 60+ appearances for Detroit...Did not allow an earned run over his first 11 games (11 IP) of the season, limiting batters to a .139 average over that span...Had 18 consecutive outings from Aug. 3 to Sept. 11 in which he did not allow an earned run...struck out 14 batters and limited opponents to a .113 batting average...Allowed one run on three hits while recording one out in his lone playoff action.

2023

Appeared in a career-high 70 games with the Tigers in 2023... Ranked tied for fourth in the American League with 28 holds, while he was tied for 10th with 70 appearances...among AL relievers with at least 50.0 innings pitched, he was sixth with 1.96 walks per 9.0 innings and 10th with a 2.59 FIP... Gave up just four runs in his first 27 appearances from March 30-June 8, compiling a 2-1 record with two saves, a 1.37 ERA (26.1IP/4ER) and 22 strikeouts... Earned his first big league save in Game 2 of the doubleheader on April 18 vs. Cleveland, striking out one while not allowing a hit or walk... Made his 100th career appearance in Game 2 of the doubleheader vs. Atlanta on June 14, throwing a hitless inning, striking out one and allowing just a walk... Earned his third big league save on June 18 at Minnesota, pitching 2.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts and a hit allowed...marked the first six-out save for a Tigers pitcher since Michael Fulmer on Sept. 15, 2021 vs. Milwaukee... Spent most of the 2022 season with the Tigers, appearing in 60 games...Earned a spot on an Opening Day roster at the big league level for the first time in his career...Picked up his first Major League win on Aug. 2 at Minnesota, allowing a hit and walking one in a scoreless inning...Allowed a run in two thirds of an inning on Aug. 5 vs. Tampa Bay, snapping his scoreless appearance streak at 11, which was the longest of his career...Named Tigers Pitcher of the Month for August, appearing in 12 games and compiling a 1-0 record with a 2.31 ERA (11.2IP/3ER) and eight strikeouts...Issued a walk on Sept. 29 vs. Kansas City, snapping his streak of appearances without a base on balls at 20, over which he threw 18.0 innings...ranked as the longest streak by a Tigers reliever since Ian Krol also had a 20-game streak from April 4-May 19, 2014.

2021

Returned to the mound in 2019, making 36 relief outings with Single A Lakeland...Posted a 0-1 record with one save, a 1.80 ERA (10.0IP/2ER) and 10 strikeouts in eight appearances during May...Closed the season by not allowing an earned run in 12-of-14 appearances from July 3-August 27, compiling a 1-0 record with one save, a 1.40 ERA (19.1IP/3ER) and 14 strikeouts...Rated as possessing the best fastball in the Detroit Tigers player development system by Baseball America.
