Nats ink Accardo, Snyder to Minor League deals

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have agreed to terms with pitcher Jeremy Accardo and catcher Chris Snyder on Minor League contracts with invites to Major League Spring Training.

Accardo, 31, spent the 2012 season with the Indians and Athletics, allowing 20 runs in 37 1/3 innings. He spent most of his career with the Blue Jays, posting a 3.67 ERA over 138 games.

Snyder gives Washington depth behind the plate. He was drafted by general manager Mike Rizzo in the second round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft when both were with the D-backs. Snyder's best season came in 2008, when he hit 16 home runs and drove in 64 runs for Arizona.

Snyder spent last season with the Astros. He played in 76 games and hit .176 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs.
