All rise for the FIFA World Cup drawing.
Aaron Judge participated in the Final Draw for the 2026 World Cup on Friday in Washington, D.C., along with a trio of legends from the other major sports.
The Yankees superstar was joined on stage by football great Tom Brady, basketball great Shaquille O'Neal and hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
The four Draw Assistants helped soccer legend Rio Ferdinand, former England team captain, conduct the drawing that revealed the group stage matchups for the upcoming World Cup, which begins next June.
Judge said he was looking forward to watching both Team USA as well as Argentina, the reigning World Cup champions.
With 48 countries participating in the World Cup in 2026 -- a first for the iconic soccer tournament, which is held every four years -- the Final Draw set up 12 pools of four countries for the initial group stage. The U.S. will be in Group D along with Paraguay, Australia and the winner of a playoff between Turkey, Romania, Slovakia and Kosovo.
Judge, Brady, Shaq and Gretzky each conducted one round of the Final Draw, with each sports icon drawing one World Cup team for each of the 12 groups. Judge, wearing a pinstriped suit, did the third round of selections.
"I follow soccer closely, so being part of the World Cup draw is incredibly special," Judge said in a release from FIFA earlier in the week. "With the final set for New York/New Jersey -- right where I play -- I can’t wait to see which teams will be battling for the title in our own backyard."
The championship match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. -- not far, of course, from Yankee Stadium -- next July 19.
That will be just a few months after Judge captains Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, baseball's own international tournament.
