NEW YORK -- The Yankees expect to have Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton back in the lineup this week, manager Aaron Boone said Monday on MLB Network Radio.

Stanton hasn’t played since Aug. 8 due to a left hamstring strain. Judge strained his right calf on Aug. 11 and aggravated the injury on Aug. 26, his first game after coming off the IL.

“We expect them back this week,” Boone said. “We’ll ease them in. If we bring them back quickly, we’ll probably see them play, then [give them] a day off, then play. We’ll build them up, hopefully, by that last week [of the regular season] where they’re going three, four days in a row.”

New York also has been playing without third baseman Gio Urshela (bone spur in right elbow) and right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga (undisclosed non-COVID illness), both of whom are expected back for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

“As we talk about Giancarlo and Judge coming back, rightfully so, sometimes we forget how important Gio is to our team,” Boone said. “We’re excited to get him back, and Loaisiga is an important member of our bullpen.”

Judge, Stanton and Urshela all took at-bats on Monday at the club’s alternate site in Moosic, Pa. Loaisiga tossed from a bullpen mound at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

Boone said that when Judge and Stanton return, he envisions using Clint Frazier regularly in left field, which would leave Brett Gardner and Mike Tauchman battling for at-bats off the bench.

“He’s very much an important part of our team,” Boone said of Frazier. “I’m excited to see what he’s going to do down the stretch, and hopefully into October.”

The Yankees are a half-game behind Toronto for the second guaranteed postseason spot in the American League East, though they have a grasp on one of the two AL Wild Card spots. They've won five straight games after losing 15 of their previous 20.

“We’ll do the best we can with whatever scenario comes our way,” Boone said.
