Brewers No. 11 prospect flips on the power switch at Triple-A

Luke Adams had played 314 career games in the Minors without a multihomer game. That changed dramatically on Sunday.

The Brewers’ No. 11 prospect was unstoppable with three long balls and five RBIs in Triple-A Nashville’s 10-8 loss to Memphis at AutoZone Park. Adams' big day pushed his OPS to 1.013.

After a flyout in his first at-bat, the 22-year-old's career day really kicked off in the fourth. Facing Quinn Mathews (STL No. 6), Adams won a six-pitch battle with the southpaw, clubbing an elevated 3-2 fastball over the wall in left field.

Two innings later, Adams made even more noise. Right after a failed pitch challenge, the 2022 12th-round pick hammered a 3-1 fastball from left-hander Jared Shuster onto the concourse in left-center. The blast left Adam's bat at 113.3 mph, his highest logged exit velocity this season. In 23 at-bats vs. left-handers this year, Adams has slugged .738 with a 1.216 OPS.

Following a popout in the seventh, the native of Hinsdale, Illinois, came up again in the ninth. Adams jumped on right-hander Ryan Murphy's first-pitch curveball and sent it 404 feet into the Memphis bullpen.

Adams has taken his game to another level since being activated from the IL on June 2. Over the last 15 games, the 6-foot-4 corner infielder has compiled a slash line of .300/.470/.760. Seven of the nine homers he's hit this season have come in June.

Adams also continues to work walks, drawing 10 free passes in the same time span. Over his career, he sports a .423 on-base percentage.

Drafted out of high school, Adams was limited to 64 games with Double-A Biloxi by a left shoulder contusion last year, but still posted a 159 wRC+ in the Southern League. He made up for the lost time in the prospect-laden Arizona Fall League and slashed .333/.471/.569 in 16 games.
