ANAHEIM -- Gary Sanchez continues to be an extra-base-hit machine for the Yankees, connecting on a mammoth home run in the fourth inning of Sunday's 2-1 win in the series finale against the Angels.
Sanchez cleared the bullpens in left field with a drive off Halos starter Tyler Skaggs that was projected by Statcast™ to travel 447 feet. It came off of Sanchez's bat at 113 mph and awed the Yanks' Carsten Sabathia, who benefited from the run support as he chalked up his second victory of the year.
"The only other person I've seen go over the bullpens was A-Rod," Sabathia said, referring to Alex Rodriguez, who happened to be on the stadium's third level broadcasting the game for ESPN.
Sanchez's last eight hits have all gone for extra bases -- four homers and four doubles, all of which have come in the Yankees' last eight games. He has seven homers, eight doubles and five singles in his first 20 hits this season and has hit safely in 12 of his last 15 contests.
"I'm feeling good," Sanchez said through an interpreter. "I'm trying to get on base, not swing at bad pitches. Overall, I'm feeling good."

The homer came with Giancarlo Stanton aboard and was the 60th of Sanchez's young career, giving him the second-most homers of any player through his first 201 games. He trails teammate Aaron Judge, who had 62 homers at that point.
"It looked like he got a fastball in the middle of the plate and hammered it," manager Aaron Boone said.
As potent as the Yankees' offense has been, outscoring opponents 64-18 over their nine-game winning streak, Sanchez said that the starting pitchers deserve immense credit for helping the club get on a roll.
"I think the biggest thing is just executing pitches," Sanchez said. "They have been able to execute pitches on a consistent basis. When you're able to do that, that allows them to go out there and do a great job."
Having completed their first three-game road sweep of the Angels since July 29-31, 2003, the Yankees' next challenge will come in the form of a four-game series against the Astros at Minute Maid Park, revisiting the scene of their ouster in Game 7 of the 2017 American League Championship Series.
Sanchez said that he is not thinking about the added juice of going toe to toe with the defending World Series champions.
"The way we look at it is, we're going out there to play baseball and win the series," Sanchez said. "That's what it is. Whatever happened last year, that's in the past. The focus is to win series."
