NEW YORK -- Terrance Gore has already shown the ability to impact the postseason with his legs, and as the Yankees eye a deep October run, they moved on Wednesday to stash the speedster's wheels within the organization.

New York acquired Gore from the Royals in exchange for cash considerations. He was not placed on the Yankees’ 40-man roster and will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Gore, 28, has 40 stolen bases in 49 attempts in parts of six Major League seasons. The Royals used him as a pinch-runner in their 2014 and 2015 World Series runs. Gore swiped a combined four postseason bases over those years.

"[Gore provides] depth and a guy with a lot of speed that could play a certain role for you down the road," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "One of the things you’ll probably see with this Trade Deadline with no August out there, big and small deals will go on where teams are trying to create depth."

Gore has appeared in 37 games this season, hitting .275 in 51 at-bats, a career high. He was designated for assignment by the Royals last week.
