Yankees make dining at stadium a gourmet experience

March 26th, 2024

NEW YORK -- Watching outfielders Aaron Judge and Juan Soto go yard on a regular basis isn’t the only thing to look forward to at Yankee Stadium this season. On Tuesday, the Bronx Bombers unveiled an expanded dining menu that would make Martha Stewart blush.

The food options will be available starting with the Yankees’ home opener against the Blue Jays on April 5 at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Robert Flowers, the new executive chef for Legends at Yankee Stadium, has been on the job for a week, and he is overseeing the culinary program for the entire venue, including general concessions, premium clubs and suites, and catering. He is making sure that the fans are enjoying more than just hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jack.

“You need the basics, of course, when you come to a ballgame. You want to have a hot dog and a nice sandwich, but we want to upscale it a little bit to bring us to 2024,” Flowers said. “The selections you get to choose from are not just the hot dogs.”

Fans are encouraged to visit the 2024 Yankee Stadium Dining Guide for full information on what Yankee Stadium menus have to offer.

For example, the 99 Burger is not your typical hamburger. It has two 4-ounce American Wagyu beef patties with American cheese, caramelized onions, secret sauce, a brioche bun and dill pickles. The burger will be served in Section 107 at the stadium.

Flowers’ favorite food on the menu is the Porchetta Sandwich, which is served at the City Winery in Section 105. The sandwich contains porchetta, broccoli rabe, provolone, Calabrian aioli, arugula and a brioche bun.

“It’s over the top -- perfect,” Flowers said.

Try the new Bacon Ranch Mac & Cheese located at the Mac Truck in Section 223. It has bacon crumbles, butter-toasted breadcrumbs and buttermilk ranch dressing.

Specialty drinks can be found at all bar areas and social gatherings. Strawberry Paloma (Hornitos Plata tequila, house strawberry mix, grapefruit soda) and the Bleacher Peacher (Jim Beam Peach bourbon, sweet tea, fresh lemon) are worth trying.

Yankee Stadium wouldn’t be Yankee Stadium without its beer. The Bronx Bombers have something new this year. It’s called Goose Island’s “New York Legendary Ale.” One can find the drink in Section 105 and the Kona Bleachers Bar.

It’s a crisp, aromatic and fruity golden ale with brilliant clarity. Its slight sweetness from two-row barley and wheat malts are balanced with light bitterness from Mt. Hood and Hallertau hops. It’s brewed in Baldwinsville, N.Y., and available in draught and 25-ounce cans.

Are you a vegetarian? No problem. The Sweet Spot Bowl, for example, from Legends Hospitality (Section 311) contains sweet plantains, rice and black beans, pickled onions, cilantro sauce and Melinda’s Hot Sauce.

“You are coming for the experience. That’s the thing,” Flowers said. “When you bring your family to the ballpark -- the lasting memories that you have when you come here -- we want [you] to capitalize on it with the food.”
