A's hoping Anderson won't miss much time

ARLINGTON -- The A's will be without Brett Anderson for at least a day or two, but they're hoping back spasms don't keep the lefty out much longer than that.

Anderson experienced the spasms in the eighth inning of Friday's 9-8 win in Texas, forcing him to exit the game after walking his only two batters. But he arrived in the clubhouse on Saturday morning "probably better than we expected," said manager Bob Melvin.

"It might be a couple of days," Melvin said, "but I don't think it's going to be a long-term thing."

Anderson, 25, already missed four months of the season because of a stress fracture in his right foot, leading to his return as a reliever. He was pitching on four days' rest on Friday.
