PHOENIX -- It’s official.

Milwaukee top prospect, Jackson Chourio, is coming to the Majors.

The Brewers announced Friday that the rookie outfielder will be on the Opening Day roster when they begin the season in New York to face the Mets on Thursday.

Chourio, who turned 20 earlier this month, enters the season as MLB Pipeline's No. 2 overall prospect. He signed an eight-year, $82 million contract last December -- an industry record for a player who had no Major League experience. It was also an indication of how close the Brewers felt he was to ascending to the big leagues.

Chourio has played all three outfield positions during Spring Training and is hitting .280/.333/.340 with three doubles and three RBIs in 50 at-bats. He has committed three errors.

Chourio was the Brewers’ Minor League co-player of the year in 2023, when he slashed .283/.338/.467 with 22 homers, 91 RBIs and 44 stolen base in 128 games at Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. All but six of those games were at Biloxi, where he was four years younger than the average Southern Leaguer.

Chourio made the Southern League All-Star team while leading the league in hits (143) and total bases (238). He tied for the lead in runs (84) and was second in RBIs (89).
