After a week of crushing home runs, Christian Yelich and Joey Gallo were announced as MLB's Players of the Week presented by W.B. Mason on Monday.

Yelich, amazingly, homered eight times for the Brewers to take home National League Player of the Week honors. Gallo homered four times for the Rangers en route to winning the award in the American League.

Player of the Week Awards

Yelich hit .417/.533/1.417 for the week, leading the Majors in home runs, slugging percentage, RBIs (16), runs scored (nine) and OPS (1.950). The 27-year-old started with a three-homer game against the Cardinals on Monday, and he added a two-homer game against the Dodgers on Saturday. Yelich now has a .353/.456/.859 slash line for the season and leads the Majors in homers (13) and RBIs (31).

Gallo hit .478/.480/1.174 for the week with the four long balls, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored. He led the AL in batting average, slugging percentage, RBIs and OPS (1.654).

The 25-year-old homered on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday -- and on Sunday, Gallo even hit his first career sacrifice fly in his 1,337th plate appearance.

This is Yelich's second NL Player of the Week Award for 2019, after he won the award for the season's opening week. It's his fifth career Player of the Week Award; he also won three times last year in his NL MVP Award campaign.

Gallo is a first-time Player of the Week Award winner. The most recent Rangers player to earn Player of the Week honors before Gallo was Rougned Odor last August.
