People with Disabilities

Project 34

Project 34 was created by Arizona Diamondbacks Assistant Director of Player Personnel & Head of People with Disabilities TPRG, Cory Hahn. Cory experienced a life changing spinal injury while a freshman on the Arizona State University baseball team. Five years later he was selected with the D-backsā€™ 34th round pick in 2011, which now plays homage to Cory. Project 34 is devoted to those with spinal injuries, with a goal ā€œto provide grants to people with spinal cord injuries to ease the financial burden that can accompany this type of injury.ā€ Cory uses his platform to grow this foundation and facilitate awareness to help individuals living similar situations.

Diversibility Day

The newly themed Diversibility Day is a day of celebrating an important segment of fans. Understanding the needs of the various communities we serve, including people with varying abilities, is important to ensure we provide access and options for their time with us. This day offers a platform to highlight figures, organizations, and other prominent entities in the community that promote awareness, support, and inspiration. Hailey Dawson, a widely recognized figure for the diverse community, was a prominent figure in the 2019 celebration. Famous for throwing the first pitch of games in all 30 MLB stadiums with her robotic hand, she is a symbol of overcoming handicaps and challenges while living a fulfilling life. Make sure to attend this yearā€™s Diversibility Day!

Special Olympics Arizona

Special Olympics Arizona is an effort to raise charitable funds and create an important community conversation about the growing number of Special Olympics Arizona athletes and student athletes from the Special Olympics Unified Sports program. These athletes are benefiting from the innovative, inclusive, and inspiring programs of Special Olympics Arizona. The D-backs host Special Olympics athletes at various events throughout the season and will continue to support the program for the foreseeable future!

Donations

In 2011, Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation donated a grand total of $1 million to the Blind Children Vision Center, which is one of the proudest moments of gratuity and philanthropy for our franchise. Since 1998, we have donated over $5 million to charitable organizations: organizations that help individuals against illness, injuries, and other difficulties. Financial donations are a prominent way of aiding communal issues for these demographics, and we take pride in being a compassionate leader for goodwill in our local communities and to all people who indulge in our brand!
