Giants re-sign RHP Tim Lincecum to a two-year contract

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The San Francisco Giants announced that they have re-signed right-handed pitcher Tim Lincecum to a two-year contract, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

The 29-year-old completed his seventh season in a Giants uniform in 2013, going 10-14 with a 4.37 ERA along with 193 strikeouts in 32 starts. He joined Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry and Kirk Rueter as the only pitchers in SF-era history (since 1958) to record at least 10 wins in six consecutive seasons. He tossed his first career no-hitter on July 13 at San Diego, the 15th no-hitter in franchise history and the seventh in the SF-era.

 The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner has gone 89-70 with a 3.46 ERA along with nine complete games (six shutouts) in 221 games (220 starts) in his seven seasons in a Giants uniform. One of the most dominating strikeout pitchers in the game since his debut in 2007, Lincecum has recorded 1,510 career strikeouts, which are the third-most since 1893 through a pitchers first seven seasons, behind Tom Seaver (1,655) and Bert Blyleven (1,546).

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-hander helped guide San Francisco to World Series titles in 2010 and 2012. He was named the winner of the Babe Ruth Award as Most Valuable Player of the postseason by BBWAA's New York chapter in 2010 after posting a 4-1 record with a 2.43 ERA (10er, 37.0ip) with 43 strikeouts in six games (five starts). In 2012 he had a superb postseason, as he worked primarily out of the bullpen, going 1-1 with a 2.55 ERA (5er, 17.2ip) in six games (one start).

The Bellevue, WA native was selected by the Giants in the first round (10th overall) in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Washington.
