The White Sox are trading right-handed reliever Gregory Santos to the Mariners, with Seattle sending right-hander Prelander Berroa, outfielder Zach DeLoach and the 69th pick in the 2024 Draft to Chicago, the club announced Saturday.

Ranked the Mariners' No. 15 prospect at the end of 2023, Berroa is a 23-year-old out of the Dominican Republic who appeared in two games with Seattle last year, striking out and walking three over 1 2/3 innings. He's gone 21-12 with a 3.58 ERA across six Minor League seasons, making 124 appearances, 77 of them starts.

DeLoach, 25, is a left-handed-hitting outfielder who was ranked the 25th-best Seattle prospect as the calendar flipped to 2024. He made it to Triple-A in 2023, hitting .286 with 23 homers and 88 RBIs while sporting an .868 OPS.

Santos, 24, made 60 appearances for the White Sox last season, going 2-2 with a 3.39 ERA while posting a 1.296 WHIP. Acquired by Chicago in a 2022 trade with the Giants, Santos has struck out 71 in 72 innings across parts of three big league seasons.

He was one of the bullpen surprises for the ‘23 White Sox, finishing with five saves with 66 strikeouts over 66 1/3 innings. His season ended on Sept. 16 due to right elbow inflammation, and while he was working out in Arizona, it wasn’t certain the hard-throwing right-hander would be ready to go full force at the outset of Spring Training.
