World Central Kitchen Partnership

Food insecurity is a systemic problem for vulnerable populations and a primary concern for an ever-increasing number of families across the DMV. Because of COVID19-related closures, regular channels for food distribution have closed, limiting access points to food for the people who need it most.

While Nationals Park remains unable to host baseball games due to the pandemic, the stadium will be utilized to help serve our community. In partnership with World Central Kitchen, we have transformed Nationals Park into a cooking and packaging site for thousands of free meals each day.

Meals are prepared by World Central Kitchen and Washington Nationals employees and distributed by Washington Nationals Philanthropies and its community partners working in the neighborhoods surrounding the ballpark and the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. At scale, the operation at Nationals Park can produce tens of thousands of free meals each day.
