NEW YORK -- Luke Voit was removed from the Yankees' 11-5 win over the Rockies on Saturday in the top of the fifth inning following a hit-by-pitch that grazed his left shoulder before hitting him in the chin. It was a 91.4 mph four-seam fastball from Chad Bettis in the fourth.

According to the Yankees, Voit left the game for precautionary reasons and underwent concussion protocol testing. The results were clear, with no further tests scheduled at this time.

Voit initially remained in the game, taking his base and coming around to score on a Gleyber Torres single, but he went down into the tunnel following his trip around the bases and did not return.

“I’m not the doctors, obviously...but right away, he seemed fine to me,” manager Aaron Boone said after the game.

Boone said that Voit had a bit of a cut lip when he was visited at first base after it happened, but emphasized that he seemed to be fine.

“Speaking to him right after, [I] feel like he should be OK,” Boone said.

Voit missed eight games with an abdominal strain sustained in the London Series on June 29. Since his return on July 13, he has played in eight games, including Saturday, with one home run and six hits in 33 plate appearances.

Overall for the year, Voit already has a career-high 18 home runs and 52 RBIs.
