Everything to know about Yankees Spring Training

TAMPA, Fla. -- The equipment trucks have arrived at George M. Steinbrenner Field, where workers ushered dozens of cardboard boxes and duffel bags toward the home clubhouse this week: bats, balls, uniforms and everything else the Yankees will need for six weeks of Spring Training under the Florida sunshine.

Following a 94-win campaign that produced an American League East title, the Yankees advanced past the Royals and Guardians to secure the club’s first AL pennant since 2009, then fell to the Dodgers in a five-game World Series. Refreshed and restocked with new faces, these Yankees aim to conclude 2025 as baseball’s last team standing.

When is the first workout for pitchers and catchers?

Yankees pitchers and catchers are due to report to Tampa on Feb. 11, with the first workout scheduled for Feb. 12.

What is the date of the first full-squad workout?

Position players are due to report to Tampa on Feb. 16, with the first full-squad workout scheduled for Feb. 17.

Minor League workouts are held at the club’s Player Development Complex, at 3102 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa FL 33607. Minor League players report Feb. 28, with their first workout scheduled for March 3.

Can fans attend workouts?

Yes! Workouts on non-game days are open to fans and free to attend, beginning Feb. 12. Parking is available in the main Steinbrenner Field lot, also free of charge.

Who are some new faces fans should know?

The Yankees signed two-time All-Star Max Fried to an eight-year, $218 million contract in December, the largest ever issued to a left-handed pitcher. That preceded moves to add outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt in December; both sluggers are former MVPs, giving the Yankees four on the roster (also Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton). They also acquired right-handed closer Devin Williams, a two-time All-Star, from the Brewers.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?

In addition to Jasson Domínguez (Yankees 2024 No. 1, MLB Pipeline 2025 No. 21), who is competing for a starting nod in left field, the Yanks’ spring roster will feature outfielder Spencer Jones (No. 2), infielder George Lombard Jr. (No. 3), infielder Roderick Arias (No. 4), right-hander Will Warren (No. 5) and right-hander Chase Hampton (No. 6).

When is the team’s first Grapefruit League game?

What is Spring Breakout and when is the game?

Spring Breakout, now in its second year, is a four-day event that showcases baseball’s future with games between the best prospects in each farm system across Grapefruit and Cactus League ballparks. The Yankees’ Spring Breakout game will be played against the Orioles’ top prospects on March 15 at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Fla.

Will the team’s games be televised?

The YES Network will broadcast all Yankees Spring Training home games and select additional road contests, with some games available only streaming on the Gotham Sports App.

Have there been any changes to Steinbrenner Field?

There are new player and staff facilities, most of which were constructed during the 2024-25 offseason and are housed in a new structure located between the first-base side of the stadium and Field 2. The remodeled, relocated and expanded areas include the weight room, medical and training facilities, female locker room, indoor/outdoor dining area and family lounge.

Additionally, there are new player and staff multi-purpose meeting rooms, a new dedicated clubhouse kitchen and new offices to accommodate members of the baseball operations department. The visiting clubhouse was completely renovated this offseason in advance of the Rays’ use of Steinbrenner Field as their home facility in 2025, due to hurricane damage at Tropicana Field.

When is the club’s last home game?

The Yanks’ final spring game at Steinbrenner Field is on March 23, against the Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET. After that game, they will turn the building’s keys over to the Rays (with the exception of the fourth-floor offices, which will still be used by Yankees ownership).

Otherwise, the Yanks will be considered visitors at Steinbrenner Field throughout the 2025 season. For example, when they return in April for a four-game series against the Rays, they will dress in the visitors’ clubhouse and utilize the visiting dugout.

Will there be any additional exhibitions before the regular season?

Yes. The Yankees have agreed to a March 25 exhibition against the Marlins at loanDepot park in Miami, which is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.

What are the details for Opening Day?

The Yankees open their 162-game regular season schedule at Yankee Stadium on March 27, when they will host the Brewers at 3:05 p.m. ET. It marks the Yankees’ earliest-ever Opening Day.
