Today, the Yankees have extended a qualifying offer to OF Trent Grisham.

Additionally, the Yankees have added RHP Kervin Castro to the 40-man roster.

Castro, 26, has made 20 career Major League relief appearances over parts of two seasons with the San Francisco Giants (2021-22) and Chicago Cubs (2022), going 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA (25.2IP, 28H, 15R/14ER, 11BB, 24K, 3HR). The right-handed pitcher made 35 relief appearances with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2025, going 5-1 with four saves and a 1.53 ERA (47.0IP, 27H, 12R/8ER, 22BB, 52K, 1HR). Over parts of seven minor league seasons (2016, ’18-19, ’21-23, ’25) in the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and Yankees organizations, Castro has gone 21-10 with seven saves and a 2.93 ERA (242.1IP, 179H, 92R/79ER, 110BB, 269K, 10HR) in 140 career games (14 starts).

The Maracay, Venezuela, native was originally signed by San Francisco as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2015. He was claimed off waivers by Chicago-NL on August 2, 2022. Castro was signed by Detroit to a minor league contract on December 12, 2022. On November 18, 2023, he signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros. Castro was selected by the Yankees from Houston in the Triple-A Phase of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft on December 6, 2023.
