Giants acquire infielder Casey McGehee from Marlins in exchange for Minor League right-handed pitchers Kendry Flores and Luis Castillo

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The San Francisco Giants have acquired infielder Casey McGehee from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Kendry Flores and minor league right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today.

McGehee, 32, completed his first season with the Marlins last year in tremendous fashion, hitting .287 (177-for-616) with 29 doubles, four home runs and 76 RBI in 160 games. His 177 hits were a career-high and ranked as the fourth-most in the National League. Among NL third baseman last year, he ranked first in hits (117), RBI (75) and fielding pct. (.979); tied for first in multi-hit games (49); second in walks (67), batting avg. (.288) and on-base pct. (.356).

The seven-year Major League veteran has played for Chicago-NL (2008), Milwaukee (2009-11), Pittsburgh (2012), New York-AL (2012) and Miami (2014). McGehee spent the 2013 season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan. He helped lead Rakuten to its first ever Japan Series title, as he batted .292 (150-for-513) with 30 doubles, 28 home runs and 93 RBI during the regular season.  

The Santa Cruz, California native was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 10th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft. He owns a career .264 batting average (653-for-2,469) with 128 doubles, 65 home runs and 359 RBI in 711 Major League games.  

Flores, 23, went 4-6 with a 4.09 ERA (48er, 105.2ip) over 20 starts with Class A Advanced San Jose this past season. The Dominican Republic native was added to San Francisco's 40-man roster prior to the 2014 season. He signed with the Giants as a non-drafted free agent on June 4, 2009.

Castillo, 22, made 48 relief appearances at Class A Augusta in 2014, going 2-2 with a 3.07 ERA (20er, 58.2ip), while converting 10 of 12 save opportunities. He was signed by the Giants as a non-drafted free agent on December 23, 2011.
