Panda's Game 1 fireworks light up social media
Sandoval hit three home runs to become only the fourth player to accomplish the feat in Fall Classic history. His exploits helped generate 813,000 social media comments about Game 1. Only Game 6 of the 2011 World Series generated more.
The World Series had more than five times as many public Facebook and Twitter comments as the next-highest ranked TV show Wednesday, and more than 79 percent more comments than the next nine most talked-about TV shows, according to Bluefin Labs.
Game 1 also was the highest-rated Wednesday night on FOX since May's "American Idol" finale.
According to Bluefin, 163,881 comments featured the words "Pablo," "Sandoval" or "Panda," which accounted for 20.2 percent of all conversations regarding the game. #WorldSeries was used in 15 percent of all comments.
It wasn't only baseball players like Matt Kemp, Jimmy Rollins, Elvis Andrus and others who chimed in on Sandoval's night. Celebrity baseball fans like Jeff Daniels, Kid Rock, Colin Hanks, Eminem, Larry King, Kevin Pollak, MC Hammer, Kerri Walsh and Rob Schneider also took to social media to voice their opinions about Kung Fu Panda and the Giants' big win.
