Meet your 2024 Kids Club Captain, Cal Raleigh! He’s been with the Mariners for his entire major league career and cemented himself in team history during the 2022 season when his pinch-hit walk-off home run ended the 20-year postseason drought.
When did you start playing baseball?
I started playing baseball as soon as I could walk, but didn’t start playing in a league until I was 5.
Who was your favorite player growing up?
My favorite player growing up was Jason Varitek.
Do you have a favorite little league memory?
My favorite memory growing up was hitting my first home run.
What do you love about baseball?
I love that I get to play a game every day for a living and have fun while doing it.
What's your favorite part about playing for the Mariners?
My favorite part about playing with the Mariners is getting to play in front of our fans. They are the best and loudest in all of baseball.
What advice do you have for kids playing baseball/softball?
My advice to kids playing would be to play as hard as you can every time out there and have as much fun as you can, because you never know when you will play in your last game.
