BALTIMORE -- Another new coach on Baltimore’s 2026 staff will be one with ties to first-year manager Craig Albernaz.

The Orioles are set to hire Jason Bourgeois as their first-base coach, according to a source. The club has not confirmed the move.

Bourgeois, 43, was the White Sox first-base/outfield coach the past two seasons, though he was not returning to the team for the 2026 campaign. The Houston native is a former outfielder who played for six teams over eight MLB seasons from 2008-15.

In 2013, Bourgeois and Albernaz were teammates with Triple-A Durham in the Rays’ organization. Albernaz will also be reuniting with Dustin Lind, the former Phillies assistant hitting coach who was on the same Giants coaching staff as Albernaz from 2020-23, and will be hired as the O’s hitting coach, per a source.

Anthony Sanders was Baltimore’s first-base coach from 2020-25, before he was hired by Detroit to serve in the same role next season.

Bourgeois played for the White Sox (2008), Brewers (‘09), Astros (2010-11), Royals (‘12), Rays (‘13) and Reds (2014-15). He was an assistant coach for Single-A Great Lakes in the Dodgers’ organization in 2019, then served as Los Angeles’ Minor League outfield and baserunning coordinator from 2021-23.

Lind and Bourgeois are the first known hires for Albernaz’s initial O’s coaching staff. Bench coach Robinson Chirinos, hitting coach Cody Asche and assistant hitting coaches Tommy Joseph and Sherman Johnson are all leaving, so there are at least several more spots to fill. The futures of other coaches from last season's staff are still uncertain at this time.
