Wehiwa Aloy, the 31st overall Draft pick in 2025 to the Orioles, has had little issue since being promoted to Double-A Chesapeake on July 29. Wednesday was just another feather in his cap.
The 2025 Golden Spikes Award winner hit a pair of home runs in a 5-4 Baysox win over Portland at Prince George's Stadium. It was Aloy’s second multi-homer game at the level and fourth on the season overall, giving him 23 total four-baggers in a strong first full professional season.
Aloy did his first yard work in the seventh inning, a two-run shot to left-center field to get Chesapeake on the board after trailing 3-0. The shortstop hit his second long ball in the eighth, another two-runner to tie things at 4 runs apiece. He worked a full count before lacing an opposite-field line drive over the right-field wall.
The Baysox later took home the win on Vance Honeycutt’s walk-off single in the 10th.
For Aloy, the power display is just another standout performance in a particularly hot stretch. The 22-year-old has a hit in nine of his last 11 games, while he’s posted a .971 OPS with five homers since Aug. 13. The Orioles’ No. 8 prospect owns an .874 OPS across two levels this year and is hitting well enough (.292 average and .500 slugging percentage) to overcome a relatively high strikeout propensity.

A native of Hawaii, Aloy earlier this summer attributed his roots for the 55-grade power he’s showing on a nightly basis.
“I think part of it comes from where I was born and raised growing up in Maui," he explained. "We grew up running on rocks barefoot, hunting and surfing, and it's those hobbies that unlock some things and strength that you can’t really teach.”
