ORLANDO, Fla. -- Larry Rothschild will return as the Yankees' pitching coach in 2018, regardless of who is hired as the club's new manager, a source told MLB.com on Monday. The club has not confirmed.
The Yankees have not made any official announcements regarding their coaching staff. Rob Thomson, the team's bench coach, recently interviewed with general manager Brian Cashman for the managerial position.
Rothschild, 63, completed his seventh season as the Yankees' pitching coach in 2017 and his 43rd in professional baseball as a player, coach or manager.
Since Rothschild joined the Yankees in 2011, the pitching staff has a 2.96 K/BB ratio, the best mark in the American League and the third-best in the Majors. Their 2.84 BB/9 IP ratio is second in the Majors.
