Here's MLB Pipeline's roundup of the top prospect performances in the Minor Leagues on Wednesday.
For a second time this season, Matt Manning was dominant in his first start after a promotion to a higher Minor League level.
The Tigers' No. 3 prospect allowed three hits over six scoreless innings in his Double-A debut on Tuesday as Double-A Erie fell to Harrisburg, 5-4. He issued one walk, hit a batter and struck out eight.

Manning, MLB Pipeline's No. 56 overall prospect, allowed one hit in each of the first three innings before settling in and retiring 11 of the final 12 batters. In the sixth, the 20-year-old right-hander included back-to-back swinging strikeouts of Carter Kieboom and Daniel Johnson followed by a ground-ball out to complete a perfect frame.
The scoreless outing was Manning's fifth in 21 starts this season. He last accomplished the feat on July 4, when he racked up nine strikeouts and allowed just one hit over five innings in his Class A Advanced Lakeland debut. He went on to post a 2.98 ERA with 65 strikeouts and 19 walks in 51 1/3 innings (nine starts) in the Florida State League before making his Double-A debut Wednesday.
Altogether, Manning has pitched to a 3.03 ERA with 149 strikeouts in 113 innings between Erie, Lakeland and Class A West Michigan. He's allowed just seven home runs while holding opposing hitters to a .201 clip.

The rest of the best performances from top prospects Wednesday
• No. 35 overall prospect Joey Bart (Giants' No. 1) connected on a solo shot and drew a walk in a 1-for-3 performance for Class A Short Season Salem-Keizer. The homer was the 11th of the year for Bart, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 Draft, and he's hit all of them for Salem-Keizer while batting .305 with 36 RBIs over 41 games.
• No. 69 overall prospect Adonis Medina (Phillies' No. 3) tossed seven innings of one-run ball to lead Class A Advanced Clearwater past Jupiter, 2-1, and into the Florida State League playoffs. He scattered five hits, walked one and struck out seven. The 21-year-old righty has allowed four earned runs in his last 26 innings (four starts) to lower his season ERA from 4.96 to 4.12, and, overall, he's compiled 123 strikeouts against 36 walks in 111 1/3 frames.
• Dodgers No. 8 prospect DJ Peters extended his Texas League-leading home run total to 26 with his fourth two-homer game of the season for Double-A Tulsa. He accomplished the feat as part of 3-for-4 effort in game one of a doubleheader and then added a single while going 1-for-3 in the nightcap. The 22-year-old entered the day with a .167 in 24 games this month.
• After racking up 10 strikeouts in two of his previous four starts, Padres No. 29 prospect Pedro Avila one-upped himself and set a season high with 11 strikeouts over five innings in a strong outing for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore. He allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks. The 21-year-old righty fanned double digits in five starts this season and ranks second in the California League with 142 strikeouts.
• Phillies No. 16 prospectDylan Cozens hit a pair of home runs to account for all of Triple-A Lehigh Valley's offense in a 5-3 loss against Pawtucket. The 24-year-old slugger connected on a two-run homer in the fourth inning and then added a solo shot in the seventh en route to his sixth multi-homer game of the season. With 21 home runs on the year (22 including his homer with the Phillies), Cozens has now hit 20-plus homers in three straight seasons.
• Rangers No. 11 prospect Anderson Tejeda stuffed the box score for Class A Advanced Down East by going 4-for-5 with three RBIs, four runs and a stolen base. The 20-year-old shortstop homered for one of his season-tying-high four knocks, hitting a solo shot in the fourth inning for his 19th homer of the season. Overall, Tejeda's produced a .260/.334/.445 line over 118 games in the Carolina League.
• Rangers No. 19 prospectA.J. Alexy struck out 10 batters for second straight start as Class A Hickory blanked Delmarva, 3-0. The 20-year-old righty allowed just three hits and two walks and threw 62 of 89 pitches for strikes. Acquired from the Dodgers in the 2017 Deadline blockbuster for Yu Darvish, Alexy is tied for second among South Atlantic League hurlers with 138 strikeouts.
• Twins No. 24 prospect Ben Rortvedt collected three hits including a grand slam and drove in six of Class A Advanced Fort Myers' eight runs in their win over Bradenton. The six RBIs were a new career-high for Rortvedt, who sandwiched a fourth-inning grand slam between a pair of RBI singles to finish 3-for-4. The 20-year-old catcher has hit .265/.351/.395 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 48 games since his promotion to Fort Myers on June 8.
• Yankees No. 25 prospectMichael King was untouchable as he retired all 18 batters he faced over six innings in a no-decision for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He recorded six strikeouts as well as eight ground-ball outs in the outing and threw 45 of his 66 pitches for strikes. The 23-year-old righty has been sensational in five Triple-A starts, going 4-0 with a 1.09 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 17 hits allowed in 33 innings.
