The New York Yankees today announced that they have signed 1B/OF Adam Lind to a minor league contract.
 
Lind, 34, hit .303 (81-for-267) with 39R, 14 doubles, 14HR and 59RBI in 116 games with Washington in 2017. The left-handed batter made 30 starts at first base, 25 in left field and six as the designated hitter. In 48 plate appearances as a pinch-hitter, he batted .356/.396/.644 (16-for-45) and tied for the Major League-lead with four pinch-hit home runs.
 
During his 12-year Major League career, has batted .272 (1,247-for-4,577) with 588R, 259 doubles, 12 triples, 200HR and 723RBI in 1,344 games with Toronto (2006-14), Milwaukee (2015), Seattle (2016) and Washington (2017). The Muncie, Ind., native has hit at least 20HR in six of his last nine seasons and was named a Silver Slugger and the Edgar Martinez Designated Hitter of the Year in 2009.
 
In 156 career plate appearances as a pinch-hitter, has batted .324/.391/.568 (45-for-139) with 9HR and 35RBI.
 
Lind was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.
