Scherzer will take the mound for his 13th season as the Nats look to defend their World Series title. The three-time Cy Young Award winner led all NL pitchers with 12.7 strikeouts per nine innings in 2019 and struck out 37 over 30 postseason innings.

Paxton is set to begin his second season with the Yankees, having recovered from lower back surgery performed in February. Paxton set career highs in wins (15) and starts (29) last year, posting a K/9.0 IP ratio of 11.11 that surpassed Luis Severino's 2017 mark of 10.71 for the best in franchise history.

Stephen Strasburg was scratched because of a nerve issue in his right hand. Fedde is 6-7 with a 5.37 ERA in 39 games (29 starts) over the past three seasons.
