Tuesday, July 31, at St. Louis - Rockies 6, Cardinals 3: Nearly 14 years after he was traded from the Rockies to the Cardinals to close his 17-year career on two playoff teams, Larry Walker returned to Busch to deliver a ceremonial first pitch. The right fielder jacked a Cardinals franchise record-tying six homers in the 2004 postseason and batted .289 for the '05 club that won 100 games and reached the NLCS. (Billy Hurst/Cardinals)
Tuesday, July 31, at St. Louis - Rockies 6, Cardinals 3: Back on his old stomping grounds at Busch after leaving as a free agent in the offseason, Seung Hwan Oh faced the club that brought him from Korea to the U.S. for his first big-league season (2016) for the second time in as many nights. Oh, dealt from Toronto to Colorado just days earlier, gave up a sac fly but got two outs to record his 15th hold of the season; he'd add another in the series finale. (Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images)
Wednesday, Aug. 1, at St. Louis - Cardinals 6, Rockies 3: Two nights after allowing a grand slam in relief, Daniel Poncedeleon came in from the bullpen again and this time picked up starter Luke Weaver in a tough spot with an inning-ending strikeout in the third. Ponce puzzled the Rockies over 2.1 hitless frames to keep his club in contention for a comeback. (Billy Hurst/Cardinals)
Wednesday, Aug. 1, at St. Louis - Cardinals 6, Rockies 3: Harrison Bader helped steer the Cardinals' rally to overtake the Rockies, contributing three hits and heads-up baserunning as he bolted into position to score the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and sparked a three-run uprising in the eighth. Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Louis - Cardinals 3, Rockies 2: Starting in right field two days after being recalled from Triple-A Memphis, Tyler O'Neill delivered a defensive double-take that kept the Rockies grounded early in the afternoon. He covered 75 feet in 4.6 seconds (Statcast) to rob Nolan Arenado in front of the wall in the first inning (5 percent catch probability), and sprinted 83 feet in 4.6 seconds in the fourth to make a diving grab of Trevor Story's liner with two Rockies on base and no outs. O'Neill also contributed a sac fly in the third to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. (First image: Getty Images; Second image: Associated Press)
Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Louis - Cardinals 3, Rockies 2: Greg Garcia and Harrison Bader pointed the way home on Jose Martinez's pinch single in the ninth, the first walk-off hit off his career and the ninth for the Cardinals on the season. All three delivered consecutive one-out singles, with Bader stealing second base ahead of Martinez's hit to right-center that produced a 3-1 series win and a pair of walk-off victories. Friday, Aug. 3, at Pittsburgh - Pirates 7, Cardinals 6: The Cardinals made sure Chris Archer's debut as a Pirate wasn't the stuff made of memories, knocking him out midway through the fifth inning (five runs, three earned). The game turned for the Redbirds on a couple of other numbers - 16 runners stranded, three thrown out at the plate. (Associated Press)
Saturday, Aug. 4, at Pittsburgh - Cardinals 8, Pirates 4: The Sultan of Salsa delivered the perfect topper to the Redbirds' 14-hit attack: a ninth-inning solo homer that sealed an 8-4 win and pulled the Cardinals into a third-place tie with Pittsburgh. (Getty Images)
Sunday, Aug. 5, at Pittsburgh - Cardinals 2, Pirates 1: Homering for the third consecutive game and reaching base for the 24th straight, Matt Carpenter ripped his league-leading 29th home run to break a scoreless tie and send the Cardinals to their third consecutive series win. (Associated Press)
