Corey Hart activated from 15-day disabled list
OF Cole Gillespie has been designated for assignment.
SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:
- Corey Hart, DH/OF, returned from rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma and activated from 15-day disabled list
- Cole Gillespie, OF, designated for assignment
Hart (#27) will be active for tonight's series opener vs. the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field (6:10 pm CT/4:10 pm PT).
Hart, 32, has been on the disabled list since May 19 after straining his left hamstring. He appeared in 10 games on a rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma, batting .297 (11x37) with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 4 RBI. In 37 games prior to getting hurt, Hart was batting .209 (29x139) with 5 home runs and 17 RBI in 37 games.
Gillespie, 30, has appeared in 34 games this season batting .254 (18x71) with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 5 RBI. The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or outright the contract of Gillespie to the minors.
