Hall of Famer Martinez to tend bar at game

SEATTLE -- Mariners Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez will serve as a guest bartender at Edgar's Cantina at Safeco Field from 12:30-2 p.m. PT on Saturday, meeting fans and raising money for The Martinez Foundation.

Saturday's game against the A's begins at 1:10 p.m. PT, and Martinez will serve drinks and greet fans, who are encouraged to leave tips and donations in support of the Foundation.

Edgar's Cantina opened this year at Safeco and is located directly behind the left-field wall. It features a South-of-the-Border menu and serves cocktails made with Zac, an artisanal mezcal imported to the United States by Martinez and his business partner Gene Juarez. The Cantina is open to all fans 21 and older.

The Martinez Foundation, a non-profit founded by Edgar and his wife, Holli, helps support teachers of color in Washington by providing graduate-level scholarships and mentoring opportunities.

The Foundation partners with eight universities, and Martinez Fellows are currently working in 14 school districts throughout the state. More information is available at themartinezfoundation.org.
