April 4, 2024

MARCH 28

The Orioles beat the Los Angeles Angels, 11-3, to open the 2024 season at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Their 11 runs scored were the second-most in team history on Opening Day. Corbin Burnes earned his first win as an Oriole. His 11 strikeouts were the most in a team debut in O’s history. Anthony Santander hit the first Orioles home run of the 2024 season when he connected on a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Cedric Mullins later followed with a three-run homer of his own in the seventh inning.

Prior to the game, the Orioles welcomed their new ownership group, led by Northwest Baltimore native and graduate of Baltimore City College, Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group, philanthropist, and lifelong Orioles fan, David Rubenstein. Pregame ceremonies also featured a moment of silence honoring all impacted by the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge earlier that week.

MARCH 30

The Orioles defeated the Angels, 13-4. Baltimore scored nine runs in the sixth inning before recording an out, their most runs in a single inning since September 2021. Grayson Rodriguez earned the win in his first start of the season, throwing 6.0 innings and recording a career-high-tying nine strikeouts. Anthony Santander and Gunnar Henderson both homered and Adley Rutschman became the first player in franchise history to score at least five runs in the first two games of the season.

MARCH 31

Tyler Wells became the third-straight O’s starter to record at least seven strikeouts to start the season. Wells retired the last 14 batters he faced in order. Gunnar Henderson extended his on-base streak to five games dating back to last year and earned his 10th career multi-walk game.

APRIL 1

The Orioles beat the Kansas City Royals, 6-4, improving to 3-1 on the season and recording their first walk-off win of the year. Jordan Westburg homered in the ninth inning, his first home run of the year and his first career walk-off. Ryan Mountcastle recorded his first home run of the season, a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

APRIL 2

Colton Cowser made his first start of the season and recorded his first career multi-hit game. Jonathan Heasley made his Orioles debut, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

APRIL 3

The Orioles beat the Royals, 4-3, clinching their second series win of the season. James McCann singled in the ninth inning to score Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins and give the Orioles their second walk-off win of the year. It marked the fourth walk-off plate appearance of McCann’s career. Colton Cowser entered as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and recorded his second-career multi-hit game.
