2026 HOPE Week: Day 5
The Yankees honored Bronx Legends Boxing Academy and its founder Jay Bulger. The organization, which operates at a boxing gym just 1.5 miles north of Yankee Stadium, changes young people’s lives through discipline and determination. It also fosters a culture of mentorship, integrating academic support, tutoring and SAT preparation into its holistic mission. The philosophy is simple — discipline learned in the ring will carry over into the classroom. At the event, Yankees Manager Aaron Boone, players Cody Bellinger, José Caballero and Max Schuemann, along with Bench Coach Brad Ausmus, surprised students at their gym. The Yankees toured the facility, participated in a group qigong session of rhythmic breathing and movement, and then took part in boxing drills with the students.
