Melodie Durham

My name is Melodie Durham. I’m a retired Firefighter and small business owner in Napa Ca. I’ve been a Giants fan since the early 70’s when I used to listen to games on the radio with my grandfather. I’ve had season tickets from 2003 – 2007 and again from 2015 to the present. (Unfortunately my career got in the way of baseball for a few years there)

The idea for the giraffe outfits came from Brandon Belt’s “Re-brand Brandon” commercial in spring of 2016. I’ve been a huge fan of Brandon Belt since he came up in 2011. When Kuip came up with the “Baby Giraffe” nickname the same year, and it stuck, everybody’s favorite first baseman became even more beloved! Now I just had to find a friend who was crazy enough to do this with me! One friend came to mind immediately! Diane Lindwall is an elementary school teacher, a wife and mother of an adorable 2-year-old. And she is even crazier than I am!

We had only planned to wear them the one day but we had so much fun we decided to wear them whenever we had the chance. And every time we did, it was just as much fun! People, even fans of the opposing teams, were cracking up and asking for pictures with us. We were so blown away by people asking to take pictures with us that at one game against the Dodgers we actually started counting. We stopped counting at 150 pictures - with fans from both teams! It was so bizarre and such a blast! That old saying “If you want to be happy, make other people happy” is SO true!

We still wear the giraffe suits from time to time and really enjoy all the smiles the outfits get. Like everyone else, we’re bummed that we can’t be at the ballpark this year. We miss it and our Giants. But we’re happy that our cut outs are there to virtually cheer on our favorite player and our favorite team! And hopefully we’ll see “the Baby Giraffe” back in the lineup soon!

GO GIANTS!!

Andrew Birkhoff

He said he took his wife to her first game and had nice seats. He kept warning her that she needed to look out for foul balls and keep paying attention. Inevitably, when he was coming back to the seats after either the bathroom or concessions, Pablo Sandoval (he thinks) was up to bat. Sure enough a foul ball was hit and it came “screaming” into the section – he, too, was also screaming for her to watch out! He said it ricocheted off of an empty chair and “nailed” someone in the nearby section. He said she got on the scoreboard and everything. From then on, she was a lifelong Giants/baseball fan and they’ve loved going to games together ever since.

Phillipe Nascimento

Once I found out I could "sit" next to Will Clark this season I couldn't pay fast enough to get that seat. When I was taking the picture, I thought about how I would react if I got to sit next to Will Clark at a game. So What you see is exactly what my reaction would be if I got to sit next to my childhood hero. I know my 10 year old self would have reacted the same way, so while in 2020 a lot of things have changed my reaction sitting next to the Thrill has not. Funny enough, my tickets for Clark's number retirement was also in PFC 122.

As for what I'm wearing, well I was going to wear my Clark 1989 jersey but I followed the rules, knowing my background was white and went with the black alternate jersey of Hunter Pence with WS patch, However note, again glove on hand ready for any foul ball I wouldn't want to get shamed by Kruk and Kuip.

Lauren Farr

My husband, Will, and I sent pictures of ourselves for the fan cutout program. I am the one holding the cup with the Giants broadcaster bobble head wine stoppers (a give away from a few years ago). My family has been season ticket holders going back to Candlestick Park (way back when we watched Kruk and Kuip as players) and we were excited to be Charter Seat holders when the current park opened in 2000.

We feel that we have the absolute best four broadcasters in Major League Baseball. Hands down there is no equal in all of baseball.

Over the years we have had good Giants Baseball teams and not so good Giants Baseball teams but through it all our broadcasters have been a constant. They have helped us through the good and the bad and the historic moments and have shared their love of the game with us. They enhance what we are seeing on the field and they are our eyes when we are listening on the radio.

And on top of their broadcast there is the post game wrap which is not to be missed.

Jon, Dave, Kruk and Kuip are smart, knowledgeable, insightful and funny. They teach me so much about baseball and players and strategy and what is going on behind the scenes and they make me laugh out loud…a lot!

Their Zoom Chalk Talk in the uncertain times leading up to the start of this abbreviated season gave me hope.

Holding the broadcasters in the cup is my tribute to the guys who make San Francisco Giants games even better.

Go Giants!

Sairus Bueno

The slogan for the 2010 decade of Giants Baseball was "Torture" (at least the fun parts anyways). For 2020 I thought that pandemic "Survival" was more relevant (Although some of those wins in Dodger Stadium were vintage "Torture").

My Grandma used to take me to games at Candlestick Park as she's been a Giants fan since they moved to SF. My fandom picked up in 2001 during the Bonds home run chase and I listened to/watched every game that season. I went to the world series in 2002 after doing a month of office work for my mom so she would buy us tickets for game 4. I cried when we lost in 2002, and went streaking when we won in 2010. My favorite Giant was Omar Vizquel for his defensive wizardry and his contagious energy. The best game I've attended was Jonathan Sanchez's 2009 no-hitter. My last moment with my grandma who introduced me to baseball was watching Nate Schierholtz's walk-off home run against the Padres on her TV in 2011. Through the Giants I've made countless friends, met my idol Stan Lee, celebrated too many birthdays, and been given something that my entire family can lose themselves in. This organization means more to me than any other.

Devan Cross

For 1a, I embedded a picture of my father and my son as if it were a print on my shirt. This is the three of us attending a night game in 2018. My son is now 10 and my father is 80, and it's always special when the three generations can go to a game together. It's really great that I am able to introduce my son to baseball, and develop a love for the Giants, in a similar manner that my father introduced me. I've captured two really special moments in my life in this cutout and am very proud to have submitted it.”

For 2a, I spliced my head into my buddy John's head, when we were celebrating before Opening Day 2016. We only wear our gold-lettered shirts on Opening Day (or Opening Night, or very special occasions like the World Series), and we've celebrated Opening Day together every year since 1999, when we first partnered for season tickets. We've been season ticketholders ever since. We grew up together on the same street in the City, were each others' best man at our weddings, and have been lifelong Giants fans (and attended many games at the 'Stick). Obviously, the cutout is a little weird since both of our faces are on it, but I wanted to be able to share this cutout opportunity with my buddy.

Brent Natsume

I figured I'd channel my inner Tim Lincecum hair style during this pandemic. I'm born, raised and still reside in San Francisco and have been a lifelong Giants fan. My favorite player of all-time is not even close, Barry Bonds. I'm wearing a 24-carat gold chain, New Era Giants snapback from Tokyo and sipping a lovely Portuguese white wine.

Dan Schienman (On Behalf of his parents)

Mel and Margaret Scheinman. (FYI their dad is at UCSF where he invented the treatment, cardiac ablation, for what Bochy had). Their relationship with Giants is they produced a son who could not hit or pitch, but who could grow up to become part of the ownership group. When they arrived in SF, they tossed aside their Dodger affiliation and taught their kids all to be Giant fans.

The picture was in Switzerland for their 60th wedding anniversary where their dad was wearing his Giants cap in front of the Swiss alps. The only hat he wears is a Giants one.

They used that photo because their parents love the Giants, and because they imparted that love to their children. He believes that on their anniversary it captured them and the moment.

Susan Oneal (On Behalf of her Parents)

Submitted the attached photo for a cutout, as a gift for their parents for their 65th Wedding anniversary on August 27th. Their father is disabled and can no longer attend games in person. They purchased the cutout as a way to commemorate their special anniversary.

Mark Jansen (On Behalf of his grandfather)

Submitted a picture of their grandfather, Larry Jansen, who used to pitch for the New York Giants and was a pitching coach for the San Francisco Giants. He has since passed but their dad (his son) wanted to get a cutout in his honor.

Lynne Enderson

Lynne submitted a picture of her husband on their wedding day last year. If you look you can see his boutonniere is a rosebud made from a baseball skin as well as he the rest of the Giants gear. Their first date was at Candlestick in 1977. They finally tied the knot after dating 42 years.

Norbert Feyling (On Behalf of his Mom)

Purchased a ticket for their Mom who was 100 years old when the photo was taken. THe second photo is of her 100th birthday at the ballpark. They mentioned that the “black and orange ran through her veins.” Happily, they had the opportunity to meet Larry Baer a few years back and thank him for giving their mom the chance to see the Giants win three World Series.

Lindsay Melo (On Behalf of his Mom)

Uploaded her mothers picture who was a huge Giants fan. She passed away unexpectedly last April 11 so this was her wonderful tribute to her mom. She loved Barry Zito and will be sitting near him at the ballpark.

Channing Coy

Planning a surprise for her father. Brother lost his fight to cancer 8 years ago at the age of 22. He was a huge Giants fan. His ashes are spread in McCovey Cove. The father has not been emotionally able to attend a Giants game since his passing. Bought 2 seats together dad and brother can once again enjoy a game together again.

Vicki Eagle

Purchased 3 Cutouts in honor of my dear Uncle who just passed away from bone cancer on Opening Day.

Lifelong Giants fans who have been coming to games as a family since childhood.

Kim Barrett (On Behalf of her Father)

My upload is a tribute to my dad, Steve Barrett, who passed away 7/7/2020.

He was a lifetime fan of baseball and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor his memory. He was a Dodgers fan but always routed for Giants too, in support of his hometown.
