• Jon Lester pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing one run while lowering his ERA to 1.56 in five starts this postseason. He is the first pitcher with multiple World Series starts in which he allowed no more than one run since Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling did it for the Yankees and D-backs, respectively, in 2001.
• David Ortiz was 3-for-4 in Game 5 and is 11-for-15 (.733) in the World Series. The record for most hits during a World Series is 13, held by Marty Barrett, Lou Brock and Bobby Richardson. The highest batting average in a World Series is .750 by Billy Hatcher with the A's in 1990.

• Ortiz lined out in the sixth inning, ending his streak of reaching base in a record-tying nine consecutive plate appearances. Two others have reached base in nine straight World Series plate appearances: Joe Gordon (1939-41) and Billy Hatcher (1990).
• Xander Bogaerts, 21, is the youngest player with at least five hits in a World Series since Andruw Jones, who was 19 in the 1996 World Series.
• Koji Uehara tied the record for most saves in a single postseason as he collected his seventh, getting four outs to do so.
• The Red Sox struck out 14 times, pushing their postseason-record total to 156.
• Jacoby Ellsbury had an RBI single in the seventh inning to break an 0-for-8 skid at the plate.
• Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. He's pitched 35 postseason innings while posting a 2.57 ERA. Wainwright also became the third pitcher in history to strike out 10 Red Sox in a World Series game.
• Allen Craig started at first base for the first time this World Series and went 0-for-3. It was the first Fall Classic game in which he failed to record a hit.
