Huge HR results in epic bat HEAVE

Orioles outfielder unleashed a monstrous bat flip after launching a two-run go-ahead homer off Twins pitcher Jorge Alcala on Monday night at Target Field.

A 45-minute rain delay had brought the game to halt in the eighth inning, but Stewart came out swinging for Baltimore once the teams returned to the field. He had every right to celebrate as his clutch homer gave the O’s a 3-2 lead late in the game. The dinger travelled a projected 411 feet and left the bat at a scorching 104.3 mph.

"If you hit a big home run and you flip the bat, more power to you," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. "... When guys hit big home runs, though, those are big moments and they feel big emotions in those moments. I’m very understanding to that and I kind of like it.”

For Stewart, it was his third homer of the year, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

While the Twins went on to score six runs in the bottom of the eighth and win, 8-3, Stewart’s heave may be an early contender for bat flip of the year (although he does have some competition, even from players no longer in MLB).
