In Focus: Homestand 4/12 - 4/17

April 19, 2024

Friday, April 12

Jackson Holliday, baseball’s No. 1 prospect, made his Oriole Park debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. Colton Cower hit his first career Oriole Park home run in the fourth inning. It also marked the first time in his career that he homered on back-to-back days.

Earlier that day, the Orioles announced their new Adopt-A-School campaign, supporting Harlem Park Elementary Middle School. Located about 10 minutes away from the ballpark, Harlem Park serves more than 440 students, faculty, and staff, from pre-k through grade eight. Harlem Park students and staff will be celebrated at each Orioles Friday home game as part of City Connect Fridays. To learn more about the initiative, visit Orioles.com/HarlemParkSchool.

Saturday, April 13

Ryan Mountcastle, Adley Rutschman, and Jordan Westburg all homered against the Brewers, marking the Orioles’ third game this season hitting three-or-more home runs. Colton Cower and Cedric Mullins both extended their current hitting streaks to five games.

Sunday, April 14

The Orioles beat the Brewers, 6-4, to avoid being swept for the 96th consecutive series. Jackson Holliday recorded his first Major League hit, a single in the seventh inning, and became the youngest Oriole to record a hit since Manny Machado in 2012. Colton Cowser recorded his fourth home run in four days in the eighth inning, extending his hitting streak to six games. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth, earning his 420th career save, two behind Billy Wagner for seventh in Major League Baseball history.

Monday, April 15

The Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins, 7-4, improving to 5-1 in series openers to begin the season. Ryan O’Hearn, Cedric Mullins, and Gunnar Henderson all homered, marking the third straight game the Orioles hit at least three home runs, the team’s first time doing so since 2018.

Tuesday, April 16

The O’s defeated the Twins, 11-3, improving to 11-6 on the year with their 27 home runs leading all of Major League Baseball at the end of the night. Grayson Rodriguez earned his third win of the year, allowing two runs over 6.0 innings and striking out six. Gunnar Henderson, Ryan O’Hearn, and Jordan Westburg all homered, marking the first time the O’s have recorded three-or-more home runs in four straight games since May 21-24, 2013. David Bañuelos made his Major League debut in the eighth inning, and became the first player in O’s history to wear No. 91.

Wednesday, April 17

Cedric Mullins hit his first career walk-off home run to give the Orioles a 4-2 win over the Twins and their second series sweep of the year. Albert Suárez threw 5.2 scoreless innings in his first Major League outing since September 26, 2017, while with the Giants. Gunnar Henderson hit his fourth-career leadoff home run and Anthony Santander homered in the seventh inning, giving the O’s their fifth straight game with three-or-more home runs.
