Orioles Celebrate Giving Tuesday

November 30, 2021

Each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the nation recognizes Giving Tuesday as a universal day to give back and support your local community. This year, the Orioles have partnered with Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland to support their mission of enabling people to live independently at home. Members of the club’s Orange & Black Gives Back Employee Volunteer Program spent the day packing meals and bringing holiday cheer to homebound seniors throughout Baltimore.

Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland is one of the largest Meals on Wheels programs in the country, serving thousands of people daily with six regional offices throughout central Maryland, including their main central location located in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore City.

Orioles staff signed up for volunteer shifts spanning the entire day on Giving Tuesday, packing thousands of meal boxes for individuals in need.

The Oriole Bird was on hand to deliver meals to those in the Baltimore community. The Bird visited homebound seniors to drop off essential food items and Orioles goodie bags to people in need.

The Orioles are also running an exclusive auction for one day only benefitting Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. The auction includes game-used items, autographed memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind experiences. Bidding is open through 10:00 p.m. tonight, November 30, at Orioles.com/Auction.

In December, Orioles staff will once again unite for a packing event to benefit Meals on Wheels. Each staff member is encouraged to donate a new mug, which will be filled with small gift items provided by the team. Each mug will eventually be delivered to a homebound senior citizen this holiday season.
